Play the computer — always free, never staked.

There is no difficulty setting, because there is nothing to be good at: the computer rolls the same die you do and moves where it lands.

Both players pay the stake. First one home takes the pot minus a 5% fee. Every roll is decided before the game starts and can be checked afterwards.

The rules

House rules

The old Indian board — Moksha Patam — that ended up on a shelf in most houses here.

  • Roll one die and move that many squares.
  • Land on a ladder foot and climb it; land on a snake's head and slide down.
  • A six earns another roll — but three sixes running void the whole turn.
  • You must land on 100 exactly. Overshoot and you bounce back off the end.
  • First one home wins. There are no draws.
  • Nothing here is a decision. Every roll of a staked game is fixed before the game starts and revealed after, so you can check it.
